Eis que surge mais uma faixa da versão definitiva das Basement Tapes que Bob Dylan gravou com a Band em uma fazenda em Woodstock, nos EUA, no período em que se recolheu da vida pública após sofrer um acidente de moto no final dos anos 60. A versão completa das fitas do porão, registradas em pouco mais de um ano de trabalho, finalmente chegarão à série de discos piratas oficializados de Dylan em seu 11° volume. A editora norte-americana Simon and Schuster está elevando para um novo patamar as publicações de luxo dedicadas à música – e reuniu todas – TODAS – as letras de Bob Dylan (inclusive as de todas as versões de sua extensa coleção pirata Bootleg Series) num volume tão denso que pesa nada menos que 6,3 kg. O livro custa salgados duzentos dólares, mas uma edição ainda mais azeda chega a nada menos que US$ 5 mil, pois apenas estes 50 exemplares virão com um autógrafo do próprio Bob. No filme St. Vincent, que nem estreou nos Estados Unidos ainda e deve chegar ao Brasil só em 2015, Bill Murray interpreta o Vincent do título, veterano de guerra que, aos poucos, começa a mostrar um outro lado para seus novos vizinhos. Bob Dylan e a íntegra das Basement Tapes, que finalmente serão lançadas

Depois de muita enrolação, aí vem um Bootleg Series de ouro: Dylan vai desovar finalmente todas as faixas gravadas com a The Band nas gravações que ficaram conhecidas como as Basement Tapes (as fitas que deram origem à pirataria de discos como conhecíamos antes dos camelôs começarem a vender CD – escrevi sobre isso na Bizz há uma cara). The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 será lançado em dois formatos: uma edição completa com seis discos (incluindo 30 versões que nunca viram a luz do dia e que saíram dos arquivos do próprio Dylan) e uma versão The Basement Tapes Raw, com dois CDs (ou três vinis) com uma compilação do melhor do box original. Os anos 80 de Bob Dylan são uma fase renegada por muitos fãs do bardo norte-americano. Também pudera: os requintes plásticos de produção musical e os timbres daquela década talvez sejam o extremo oposto dos valores musicais erguidos por Dylan nas duas décadas anteriores. Mas ninguém o forçou a gravar esses discos e a perspectiva histórica aos poucos vão salvando grandes canções e discos inteiros menosprezados à época (o próprio Dylan começou esta reavaliação ao dedicar páginas de seu único volume de Chronicles, sua autobiografia não-terminada, ao disco Oh Mercy, de 1989). Agora é a vez de um tributo inteirinho dedicado a esta década de Dylan (chamado, darl, Dylan in the 80s) – e reúne nomes tão improváveis quanto Elvis Perkins, Reggie Watts e uma dupla inominável formada pelo Gene do Ween e o Slash ex-Guns’n’Roses. O aperitivo que já soltaram traz nosso querido Built to Spill tocando “Jokerman”, aquela música que o Caetano tocava na turnê do Circuladô, no início dos anos 90.
