E as três horas e poucos minutos de show que o Cure fez em cada apresentação aqui na América do Sul foram tranquilamente ofuscadas pelo verdadeiro tour de force de QUATRO HORAS de música ao vivo na Cidade México que a banda de Robert Smith completou neste domingo, no mesmo dia em que o vocalista e líder da banda completava 54 anos (acho engraçado o fato de ele ser exatamente um ano mais velho que Brasília). Além do setlist idêntico ao que tocou nos shows por aqui (veja abaixo), Robert Smith ele tocou as duas sequências de músicas que alternou nas apresentações no Rio e São Paulo (em SP tocou “The Kiss”, “If Only Tonight We Could Sleep” e “Fight”; no Rio teve “Plainsong”, “The Same Deep Water as You” e “Disintegration”, no México, tocou todas as seis), se deu ao luxo de comemorar seu aniversário tocando, sozinho, “Three Imaginary Boys” e “Fire in the Cairo”, do primeiro disco da banda, e o estádio Foro Sol ainda foi chacoalhado por um terremoto que, felizmente, não causou vítimas. O editor-chefe do blog Side-Lines, Bernard Van Isacker, descreveu como foi o susto:

“I thought that I was loosing my balance as I felt the ground drifting away from under my feet. Then people started screaming and I was told that an earthquake was taking place. I could see those big station spot posts shaking back and forth as if there was a huge storm taking place. Instantly all communication via mobiles was also interrupted as thousands were trying to call their family. I guess Robert Smith had not better way to celebrate his birthday today.”
