Massacrado e ironizado pelos críticos da época, o disco que registrou a primeira aparição ao vivo de Bob Dylan no Japão será relançado no final do ano reunindo não apenas as canções lançadas à época como o duplo Live at the Budokan, como todas as outras faixas que o bardo norte-americano tocou ao vivo nas duas apresentações que fez naquele país, nos dias 28 de fevereiro e 1° de março de 1978. O disco que completou 45 anos no mês passado agora surge com o título de The Complete Budokan 1978 tanto como uma caixa quádrupla de CDs como um box com oito vinis – além de reproduções do pôster e ingressos originais, fotos da turnê e um encarte colorido com 60 páginas. Na epoca de seu lançamento o disco foi ridicularizado nos Estados Unidos pois Dylan estava justamente forçando a barra em algo que consolidou-se em sua carreira: não tocar as músicas como elas foram gravadas nos discos. Mesmo com um repertório de encher os olhos de qualquer fã, muitos desdenharam da forma como o autor dessacralizava suas próprias criações – sendo que era justamente isso que ele queria. O novo disco não faz parte da série Bootleg Series e será lançado no dia 17 de novembro – suas versões físicas já estão em pré-venda no site do mestre, que ainda oferece um disco chamado Another Budokan em vinil apenas com as músicas inéditas. Ele ainda antecipou uma das muitas inéditas do disco, a versão que fez para “The Man in Me”, com sax e coral que fizeram os fãs xiitas reclamar… Que bobagem.
