Bob Dylan e a íntegra das Basement Tapes, que finalmente serão lançadas

Depois de muita enrolação, aí vem um Bootleg Series de ouro: Dylan vai desovar finalmente todas as faixas gravadas com a The Band nas gravações que ficaram conhecidas como as Basement Tapes (as fitas que deram origem à pirataria de discos como conhecíamos antes dos camelôs começarem a vender CD – escrevi sobre isso na Bizz há uma cara). The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 será lançado em dois formatos: uma edição completa com seis discos (incluindo 30 versões que nunca viram a luz do dia e que saíram dos arquivos do próprio Dylan) e uma versão The Basement Tapes Raw, com dois CDs (ou três vinis) com uma compilação do melhor do box original. Built to Spill tocando “Jokerman” em um tributo aos anos 80 de Bob Dylan

Os anos 80 de Bob Dylan são uma fase renegada por muitos fãs do bardo norte-americano. Também pudera: os requintes plásticos de produção musical e os timbres daquela década talvez sejam o extremo oposto dos valores musicais erguidos por Dylan nas duas décadas anteriores. Mas ninguém o forçou a gravar esses discos e a perspectiva histórica aos poucos vão salvando grandes canções e discos inteiros menosprezados à época (o próprio Dylan começou esta reavaliação ao dedicar páginas de seu único volume de Chronicles, sua autobiografia não-terminada, ao disco Oh Mercy, de 1989). Agora é a vez de um tributo inteirinho dedicado a esta década de Dylan (chamado, darl, Dylan in the 80s) – e reúne nomes tão improváveis quanto Elvis Perkins, Reggie Watts e uma dupla inominável formada pelo Gene do Ween e o Slash ex-Guns’n’Roses. O aperitivo que já soltaram traz nosso querido Built to Spill tocando “Jokerman”, aquela música que o Caetano tocava na turnê do Circuladô, no início dos anos 90.

Vem aí o décimo volume das Bootleg Series de Bob Dylan, o longevo projeto de oficialização da discografia pirata liderado pelo próprio artista que vem funcionando como uma discografia paralela, composta por rascunhos. O alvo da nova coleção de discos é a transição dos anos 60 para os anos 70 representada pelo então tido como caricato Self Portrait, um dos primeiros de Dylan a serem mal recebidos pela crítica (Greil Marcus começava sua resenha na Rolling Stone perguntando “que merda é essa?”).

Another Self Portrait, que será lançado no final deste mês, reúne 35 faixas gravadas nesse período, boa parte delas versões para músicas tradicionais americanas, como “Pretty Saro”, abaixo. E o texto da caixa é escrito pelo próprio Greil Marcus:
