On the Run 53: Dangermouse Promos (1999)

Muito antes de lançar uma das pedras fundamentais da década do mashup (o Grey Album, de 2003), Brian Burton já escorregava suas mãos por vinis e, aos poucos, fundia beats de outras músicas em seu caldeirão hip hop. Duas mixtapes de 1999 mostram que, apesar de seu completo domínio da cena hip hop em sua discotagem (que dá o tom dos dois sets), ele não se segurava em colocar alguns estranhos – como Blondie, R.E.M., Scritti Pollitti, Phil Collins e, é claro, os Beatles – para chacoalhar com o groove. Coisa fina.
