E no post em que Alan Moore deseja um feliz 2012 a todos, dois leitores me apontaram que a tradução para o texto já tinha sido feita num post do Omelete, que continha a seguinte entrevista com Alan Moore como mote original:

Aproveito então para deixar traduzido os trechos que o próprio Omelete já disponibilizou (e refaço o convite para quem quiser traduzir a íntegra da entrevista acima):

O problema é que isso aflige tanto os nossos cientistas que eles estão tomando posições que também beiram a religião para defendê-las. Etimologicamente, a palavra religião não tem nada a ver com espiritualidade, mas com união, ligação em torno de algo. Nesse sentido, o Marxismo é uma religião. As várias escolas da Física também o são. O problema é que as religiões, no sentido que conhecemos a palavra hoje, criam dogmas, que são limitações ao pensamento – e isso nunca é uma coisa boa.”

Later God decided everyone is so lame that he chose his “chosen people” to give a plot of real estate to while telling everyone else to fuck off, ordered some ethnic cleansings to clear out the area and so forth. Still finding nearly all people to be unbearable (and who can blame him, really?) this god person decided, out of the kindness of his heart, to send his only son to be brutally tortured and savagely murdered so that he won’t have to send us all into a lake of hell fire for all eternity, because he loves us. About 600 years later, god met this slave owner named Mohammed who also hated most people and the two of them really hit it off. God told Mohammed to wipe out the Jews, the Christians, basically everyone who did not see the the world the way that he did, and together they decided to call this new way of thinking, “the religion of peace”. But now the religion of peace wants to wipe god’s chosen people off of their plot of real estate and the followers of god’s poor brutalized son – whom the chosen people killed (oops, epic fail there guys) see this as a good thing because it will bring about the end of the world, and god’s son will appear in the clouds while the rest of us can go to hell. What does this all mean? It means god must be stopped and his followers need to give us back our planet before they blow the whole damned thing up in one big rapturous apocalyptic orgasm of self fulfilling prophecy. In other words GOD IS PART OF THE 1 PERCENT. He must be stopped.

É o que disse o Terry Jones acha, como disse em uma entrevista:

But Jones told the Radio Times: “I never thought it would be as controversial as it turned out, although I remember saying when we were writing it that some religious nut case may take pot shots at us, and everyone replied: ‘No’.”

The 69-year-old said: “I took the view it wasn’t blasphemous. It was heretical because it criticised the structure of the church and the way it interpreted the Gospels. At the time religion seemed to be on the back burner and it felt like kicking a dead donkey. It has come back with a vengeance and we’d think twice about making it now.”

Asked whether he would make a similarly satirical film about Muslims, he said: “Probably not – looking at Salman Rushdie [whose controversial book The Satanic Verses forced him into hiding for 10 years].

“I suppose people would be frightened. I think it’s whipped up by the arms industry.”
