O universo de Quentin Tarantino
A teoria já foi discutida por Selton Mello e Seu Jorge no curta Tarantino’s Mind, da 300 ml. Vale o replay:
Resumindo: todo o universo dos filmes de Quentin Tarantino – à exceção de Jackie Brown, cuja história é de Elmore Leonard – está interligado entre si, seja por marcas, como os cigarros Red Apple (o Slusho de Tarantino) ou o Big Kahuna Burger (que, citado em Pulp Fiction, também reaparece em Reservoir Dogs e no trecho que Tarantino dirige no filme Grande Hotel)…
…Mas principalmente pelos personagens. Como explicou o Selton no vídeo acima, Vincent Vega (o Travolta em Pulp Fiction) e Vic Vega (Michael Madsen em Cães de Aluguel) são irmãos, o policial Scagnetti que só é citado em Cães de Aluguel é o mesmo que aparece em Assassinos por Natureza (cujo roteiro é de Tarantino). A maleta de Pulp Fiction é a que tem os diamantes do final de Cães de Aluguel e, diferente do que foi citado no vídeo acima, há uma teoria que diz que os filmes Um Drink no Inferno e os dois Kill Bill não pertencem diretamente a este universo, mas são filmes que são assistidos pelos personagens. Filmes violentos, cheios de referências à cultura pop – e o Sonny Chiba no início de True Romance (outro roteiro de Tarantino) é o mesmo que faz Hatori Hanzo em Kill Bill, que tem uma história parecida com a série de TV que Mia Wallace iria interpretar em Pulp Fiction, o Fox Force Five, onde era uma especialista em facas, como a Noiva de Kill Bill. A lista vai adiante sempre com elementos pequenos, vagos, em que a lição de Hitchcock (ele mesmo um easter egg humano em todos seus filmes clássicos) mistura-se com a sincronicidade de C.G. Jung. Não chega a ser um grande filme dividido em capítulos como sugere o papo de Selton e Jorge, mas um jogo de linguagens e de camadas de leituras que o Rob Ager tão bem definiu a explicar o 2001 de Kubrick. O próprio Tarantino já admitiu isso.

A novidade é que esta semana apareceu uma releitura deste universo que pode explicar a origem de toda verborragia pop e ultraviolência que unem a filmografia de Tarantino quase como uma tônica de narrativa, mais do que uma história em si. Sentimentos confusos ao ouvir esse In My G4 Over the Sea. Por um lado, o mashup é bem feito e os beats funcionam com o algumas levadas do Neutral Milk Hotel. He said Aleister Crowley’s got methods for contacting alien intelligences and for changing the world, is he talking crap? So I did it and, no, he’s not talking crap!
