Chan Marshall deixou a cantora de bar de blues que encarnou nos últimos anos em um armário junto com as garrafas de uísque e jogou a chave fora ao reassumir a persona indie que cultuava pelo meio da última década do século passado. Mas se a Cat Power original era introspectiva e tristonha como o indie daquela época, a nova ressurge praticamente hipster, uma espécie de irmã mais velha da Grimes. “Cherokee” foi a música que anunciou a nova fase, consagrada no surpreendente Sun, e mesmo não sendo dos momentos melhores lapidados do álbum, é a música que marca o ano para a cantora – autônoma, esotérica, inabalada.
