” In the clip, which was posted on YouTube on Monday, an assistant asks Mr. Jagger to compile a set list to be used on the Rolling Stones’ current tour. Before naming oldies that the band has performed regularly since the 1960s – “Let’s Spend the Night Together,” “Satisfaction” – Mr. Jagger wonders why anyone would want to see Monty Python at this point. “Who wants to see that again, really,” he asks, “I mean, it was really funny in the ’60s.”

“Still,” he says, after being told that the first Python show sold in seconds, “a bunch of wrinkly old men trying to relive their youth and make a load of money.” “The best one died years ago,” he adds, referring to Graham Chapman, who died in 1989 – but also calling to mind Brian Jones, the Rolling Stones’ founding guitarist and original blues purist, who died 45 years ago this Thursday.”
